    The first place to start is with what is on the inside. What do I mean by that? It is a well-known fact that men are visual beings. However, what is inside a person is more important. One of the most attractive qualities that a man values, is confidence. It attracts him like a magnet. So work on being confident, fun to be with, and foster a positive attitude.

    Second thing to focus on is making you look attractive. Even though we were highlighting the inner self, it is still important to take care of the outer self too. Start with taking care of your body by eating a healthy diet and getting sufficient exercise and rest. You can put on the nicest outfit but if you are unfit and looking tired, it will detract from the impression you trying to make. Any woman can look beautiful and attractive with a little effort. Find out what colors and styles flatter you most.

    Thirdly, dress with style. Leave a little something to the imagination. Men like a little mystery and appreciate a woman looking their best without letting it “all hang out.” More revealing clothing is more appropriate at home in private.

    Finally, remember to be fun to be with and be positive. Enjoy being with your guy and he will enjoy being with you. While it might be tempting to relax and unwind with someone you have been going with for a while, remember that it is not fair to let him bear the brunt of any bad feelings you may have.

    By knowing what a man wants, you can change some of the things you do to attract him and give him what he is looking for. You do not have to become someone else. You can become more attractive by making the most of your personality, your appearance, and your attitude. Actually, it is about becoming a better you, bringing out the best in yourself that will make guys want you, and to ultimately attract and keep your man.

  2. What Say You?

    This is a phrase uttered often, and in jest, by my best friend (my husband). But today, it is a question I am pondering seriously (which is a huge step for me, as I am not often all that serious) What do I have to say? I say this…

    Life is like a book. A life is a book made up of chapters and characters encountered throughout one’s life. Some chapters are happy; others sad, still others in between. You are the only character that will appear in all of your chapters… in the complete book, so to speak. Others for many chapters, some a chapter or two, and yet others in a brief paragraph. No matter the length of stay, all contribute to the evolution of the book, or in this case, the evolution of the person. As goes the book, so goes your life.

    In recent months, I have been fortunate to experience the trifecta of friendship. Allow me to explain: I have continued to contribute to and maintain current friendships; I have also been richly rewarded by rekindling treasured old friendships; and I have been privileged to make new friends as well. People from the past, people from the present, and people reaching out with a hand in friendship; these experiences make me feel truly blessed. The picture above is such a good representation of how my heart feels… all of my life’s experiences representing the leaves and winds of change, and how all of those experiences and friendships have helped me to evolve into the person I am today.

    Sometimes I think we must sit still; stop all of our running about and worrying. Sit still long enough to observe and ponder the meaningful contributions made to your life daily by those you love and cherish. Having sat there long enough, you will find an avenue to embrace the riches we so often take for granted… they are priceless.

    I want to say thank you to my friends, for being you, and you know who you are. Thank you for being part of my book. I also want to say thank you to anyone who happens upon this reading, for taking a moment of your life to share with me.

    Shiny and glossy, the glare from the sun, it’s almost too much for you to bear – because it’s your neighbor’s vehicle and not yours that is waxed to a high gloss shine and grabbing your attention. You can have your vehicle looking that way as well by following a few simple tricks.

    Waxing a car takes some skill and know-how. If it’s not done right you will find that your glossy finish is now cloudy and dull. In addition, once it is done improperly it can be very difficult to fix it. So let’s cover some of the ways not to wax your vehicle first and then get to the ways to do it properly.

    One of the biggest mistakes made by people when they decide to wax their vehicle is to not have a squeaky clean finish to start with. It’s a basic first step when you decide to wax that you need to have it washed first and there’s no soap residue left on the surface. Dirt and soap residue will add to the cloudy, dull finish that may appear after you wax.

    Other mistakes include using the wrong type of wax for your paint. You have to use the wax that is right for your paint or you may find yourself in a situation where instead of creating a glossy finish, you’ve permanently damaged the shine. So double check the label on the wax and make sure it’s right for your vehicle.

    Not applying enough or applying too much wax is another common mistake that is made. If you don’t use enough wax, you won’t have that high gloss showroom finish when you are done. On the flip side if you use too much you still won’t achieve that sheen that you are going for. This part takes some practice to get it right. As a good rule of thumb, it’s best to start out with too little than too much. Remember, more is not always better.

    So now let’s move on to how to accomplish the goal properly. Wash your car thoroughly and double rinse to make sure there’s no residue left on the surface.

    Make sure your wax is the right one for your paint. Check the wax label to see if your vehicle is supposed to be wet or dry for application as both formulas are available.

    Apply the wax in a circular motion overlapping the circles to ensure full coverage. Using a clean cloth, follow the same circular motion to polish the finish to high gloss shine. Remember applying wax can be done manually or with a powered buffer or polisher. If you’re applying the wax with a buffer, make sure you’re using the correct pads. Finishes can be easily destroyed by using the incorrect grade of pad. Once the finish is destroyed only a new paint job can achieve the high gloss shine you’re looking for.

    Now that you’ve applied the wax and polished the vehicle, give it about an hour to dry thoroughly and the wax time to melt. If you notice that it looks a little dull at first, wit just a little longer. As the wax is applied it melts. The wax beginning to harden again will give it a somewhat cloudy looking finish at first that will gradually disappear. Your car looks much better after each wash when you perform the task the right way.

  6. Pokemon – Where Robots and Animals Fuse

    Not many are aware of this perhaps (or perhaps you are!) but almost every computer game we play is an application of robotic software technology. That is, the icons you see and maneuver are really program configurations with set parameters. It cannot go beyond those parameters simply because that is the limitation of its programming. Very often, in fact, ‘upgrading’ does not involve adding a new function to an existing entity, but rather simply replacing it in its entirety and downloading its memory from the game’s database.

    The original Pokemon game, ported to Game Boy as ‘Pocket Monsters’ was a fairly simple and standard ‘fighting bot’ game that became popular. The imagination is a funny thing. Geeks design and fight their ‘bots’ with a very strong ego: they designed the robot; they’re pitting their skill against their opponent’s. When a premise, or story, is put into a game that all changes. Pokemon are robots to be sure, but the user didn’t design them- computer game geeks did. So it becomes a fantasy world in which the object is to obtain the best Pokemon that one can using it ‘feature’ to the best of one’s ability. When losing, one can almost feel that the Pokemon let him down, was not strong enough, or whatever. He may blame himself partly, but not fully.

    If the fantasy behind a game is strong enough, it can lead to spinoffs. Conversely, something that is popular like Ultraman can lead to a game. But games usually remain games and toys stay toys. Pokemon has seen very good spinoff (though it is not taking the world by storm) because of its intriguing concept. This is where the robot is left behind and the human imagination begins to reach out and explore.

    The Pokemon card game is very popular with kids. You may not think that that has anything at all to do with robots, but if you let your logic go a little ‘fuzzy’ I think we can see robotic concepts in all life- that in fact machines were meant to replace things humans do and robot ‘humanizes’ the machine even more because of wider parameters. So we can speak of a baseball player as a robot (pitches this fast, had this many hits, weighs this much, is this tall, etc.) and trade cards. Similarly, we get the stats on a Pokemon and it’s rather like a robot. But that’s not so in the imagination. In the imagination it’s something alive. And if we do something to it like make it shiny (shiny raikon cards), it becomes even more valuable and alive.

    But the bottom line truth to all computer games is that they are robots. The question is this then: in a networking game like Second Life are you a robot? Will Pokemon ever become real?

    In everyday life there are two different kinds of respect that you can get from those you interact with. Whichever you should be due depends on the particular situation that you are in. However, the respect you get from other people is largely a result of the way that you behave. You can control how to get people to respect you.

    One type of respect is earned respect and involves emotions like love and admiration. Earned respect takes time to cultivate and is based on things like confidence, trustworthiness, values, and the beliefs of the person that one has this kind of respect for. Earned respect is based more on the knowing of someone over a long period of time.

    Normative respect is the other kind of respect that is given to someone and is the most common type of respect that people give to people that they don’t know. For example, a man may open a door for a woman he doesn’t know. Normative respect is also a respect given because of a person’s status, not necessarily for the kind of person they are. For example, most people have respect for a policeman, the law, or for their boss. Normative respect is based more on duty.

    Here in this article, we are mainly concerned with earned respect.

    In the workplace, the family home or in everyday life, the ideal type of respect to gain from your peers, managers and employees is of course earned respect. However, if you are a manager or supervisor you will gain normative respect from most of your employees because of your status. But, as was indicated earlier, earned respect takes time to acquire because it involves the demonstration of behaviours and attitudes.

    Let’s look at some ways to gain earned respect.

    1. Talk Less and Listen More

    Rather than talking about how good you are something (which just sounds like boasting), show other people how good you are in your actions. If you are behaving in the right way you won’t need to verbally justify your actions.

    Additionally, you don’t need to speak up about every little thing that takes place around you. Be selective about what things are worthy of your input.

    Everybody likes to be heard and when you patiently listen to those talking to you, then you are showing your interest, concern and appreciation for them. Moreover, listening is complimentary to talking. When you thoroughly listen to someone you become more able to properly influence them when you do talk.

    2. Show Sincere Appreciation

    Sincere appreciation and flattery are two quite different things. You might use flattery on someone at the local bar to get their attention to let them know you are interested in them. Sincere appreciation, on the other hand, is not about receiving a reciprocal response. It’s about recognising good behaviours and actions in another person and complimenting them for it in a genuine manner. When you see people around you who deserve appreciation, you should give it generously and without flattery. They will respect you for it

    3. Honesty

    If you are dishonest or untruthful you will never gain genuine respect from the people around you. If you are dishonest they may give you normative respect because of your position but you will never earn real respect. If something goes wrong and you are responsible, step up and take that responsibility without shifting the blame elsewhere. You will be much better respected for it in the long term.

    4. Have Self Respect

    Having self respect is perhaps the most important component of earning respect from others. Without self respect, there is no way you can respect others and behave in ways to earn their respect in turn.

    So, knowing the difference between the two kinds of respect, normative and earned, you can also gain an understanding of some ways to gain genuine respect in your life. Apply these tips to your daily lives you can easily find yourself much better respected, and as a result, much happier.
